Alfreton Road 1979

1979
Waplington, Paul
Waplington takes his view point from inside a tall sky rise building, looking over his native Nottingham. He plays with perspective and allows for the ground to curve under, suggesting how perspective changes from a great height. Waplington has painted the viewer into the canvas. The arms and hands of the viewer rest on the window ledge, and it is in fact the spectator of the work that looks over the scene. Studying the landscape, we can examine both the hustle and bustle of life in Alfreton Road and the architecture and colours of the buildings beyond. Nadia Thondrayen
