Maxi, Mini, Midi, Midi, Midi (Mauve and Cream)

2012
Channer, Alice
Maxi, Mini, Midi, Midi Midi (Mauve and Cream) is one of a group of several attempts by Channer to make sculptures of smoke rings. These works have taken different forms, but all involve casting the edges (wristbands, cuffs, necks) of stretchy clothing in aluminium to constitute smoke rings. This is part of her ongoing investigation into the relationship between industrial and post-industrial materials and a post-human body. Like many of Channer's works, Maxi, Mini, Midi, Midi, Midi (Mauve and Cream) is figurative but without a body.
