Quartros

1960
Rutherford, Meg
Quartros is a bronze sculpture which evokes an impression of both strength and delicacy through its knotted, honey-comb form. This work could be seen as a subtle exploration of the properties and physicality of bronze; it reshapes physical space into compartments as the viewer’s gaze is drawn into its core. Quartros has an air of clenched resistance, which seems to encompass the difficulty of life post-WWII. (Text Courtesy of Charlotte Reeves)
