Once Upon a Time: Artists and Storytelling

Curated by students from the Courtauld Institutes MA Curating course, the exhibition examined the use of visual images to tell stories and act as a narrative. Drawing on the Courtauld’s 19th century collection, the exhibition used the storybook illustrations of artists such as Walter Crane and George Cruikshank. A slightly darker element was introduced with the works of Arthur Boyd Houghton and our own prints from Paula Rego’s Nursery Rhymes.
