This event coincided with the launch of the Arts Council Collection Touring Exhibition Uncommon Ground: Land Art in Britain 1966 - 1979 at Longside Gallery, Yorkshire Sculpture Park on 5 April 2014. The artist Hamish Fulton participated in an in-conversation event with Ben Tufnell, co-curator of the exhibition. Hamish Fulton has received international recognition across six decades for a practice which draws inspiration from a direct engagement with landscape through the process of walking and the subsequent sharing of his experiences through photographic and text works presented in a gallery context. Staged on the first public opening day of the exhibition to a full auditorium at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the event offered a rare and informal opportunity to hear the ‘walking artist’ describe his practice first hand.
