ACC Curators Day in Southampton

15 July 2014

The day will explore the history of Southampton City Art Gallery's collection and take a look at recent acquisitions and how these are acquired through private bequest funds and with the help of a Tate advisor. There will be a tour of the stores which is home to the permanent collection of over 3500 works, as well as the gallery’s conservation studio (the largest public sector paintings conservation studio in the south of England).

There will also be a look at Southampton's plans for developing a Cultural Quarter, and the City Gallery’s links with other institutions within the city.

This day coincides with the Arts Council Collection's touring exhibition, Bridget Riley: Flashback. There will be an opportunity to see this exciting exhibition at Southampton City Art Gallery, the final venue of the tour.
