Davie, Alan
A talented jazz musician and poet as well as a respected painter, Alan Davie has sought to help people 'dream with their eyes open.' His work has a sensual and spiritual energy and an inherent joy in strong colours. For many years Davie has been interested in native and ancient cultures, as well as Zen Buddhism, and many of the forms and symbols found in his works are inspired by these interests. He is drawn to those forms he considered to be archetypal, expressing commonly understood ideas, spanning time and culture. He would like his paintings to 'be open to poetic interpretation and work as a magical experience.'
