Untitled 77-78

1978
Horsley, Michael
Horsley was born in Derbyshire in 1941. He studied fine art at Derby College of Art and the Slade School of Art. Bold swathes of colour dominate 'Untitled 77-78' and this demonstrates Horsley's early interest in abstract painting. His more recent works differ greatly in style, featuring real and imagined scenes. Largely figurative, Horsley's current paintings are inspired by things seen and experienced on his frequent road trips to Hungary - passing through Belgium, France and Germany, and visiting museums, galleries and churches on the way.
