Programmed across four major galleries, the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Art Gallery, The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, as well as various outdoor spaces in Leeds and Wakefield, Yorkshire Sculpture International is the UK’s largest dedicated sculpture festival.
The first festival builds upon Yorkshire’s rich history as the birthplace of pioneering sculptors, including Collection artists Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, and as the home of this unique consortium of galleries and celebrated sculpture collections.
Our recent Curators’ Day brought together arts professionals from across the UK for two days of talks and tours around an impressive programme of exhibitions and commissions as part of the inaugural event.
Among the events and exhbitions visited were:
Material Encounters at Hepworth Wakefield
Sachin Kaeley at The Art House, Wakefield
David Smith at Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Ruth Ewan and Oscar Murillo at Longside Gallery
Nika Neelova and Holly Hendry at The Tetley
See below for a slideshow of highlights from the event.
Yorkshire Sculpture International runs until 29 September 2019.
